By now you have heard the buzz and hype about social media. Facebook, Twitter and the other venues bring the concept of “word of mouth” to the web. Social media is a way of having fun, sharing useful product tips and building friendships with your business' audience.

Social media provides a means to communicate with your consumers in a brief and more forward manner.  But is social media marketing right for your business? Social media marketing is like any other campaign; it must have an objective and a strategy to achieve desired results.

There are two benefits of social media that are important to businesses, they include:

  1. Cost reduction by decreasing staff time.
  2. Increase of probability of revenue generation.

If these two things are important to you, then social media is a good fit for your business, but this will not happen overnight. It will take smart strategy, dedication, patience and the input of time.

  3. Consumer's Reaction
  4. Non Financial Impact Occurs
  5. Financial Impact Occurs

Do you see why social media takes patience? It's not an immediate return on your investment! If you are willing to accept that premise, and invest the time, energy and budget dollars needed, social media can be an effective venue and can help in growing your business.
